Movies on Blu-Ray

Lone Survivor (Peter Berg) Based on the failed June 28, 2005 mission “Operation Red Wings”. Four members of SEAL Team 10 were tasked with the mission to capture or kill notorious Taliban leader Ahmad Shahd. Starring Mark Wahlberg, Ben Foster, Eric Bana, and Josh Berry

This movie is OK, but didn’t really move me in a way something like Zero Dark Thirty does. There isn’t much depth to the characters and some of the action is shot too close to the action. It’s a riveting story, sure, but not something I would jump out of my seat to buy. It’s a good RENTAL for sure. Special features included are:

  • Recreating the firefight
  • Learning the basics
  • Will of the warrior
  • The Pashtun code of life
  • Bringing the story to light
  • The fallen heroes of Operation Red Wings

RoboCop (José Padilha) In 2028 Detroit, when Alex Murphy – a loving husband, father and good cop – is critically injured in the line of duty, the multinational conglomerate OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer. Starring Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, and Abbie Cornish

Instead of a robot coming to terms that he is a man, this time around the man comes to terms with being a robot. This movie is leagues beyond what that Total Recall reboot tried to do a few years back and this movie asks a lot of interesting questions. However, the action is rather boring and the villain(s) are just completely empty. The movie also isn’t that fun. It’s worth checking out on a stormy night as a RENTAL though. Special features included are:

  • Deleted Scenes
  • Omnicorp Product Announcement
  • RoboCop: Engineered for the 21st Century
    • The Illusion of Free Will: A New Vision
    • To Serve and Protect: RoboCop’s Weapons
    • The RoboCop Suit: Form and Function

Son of God (Christopher Spencer) The life story of Jesus is told from his humble birth through his teachings, crucifixion and ultimate resurrection. Starring Diogo Morgado, Amber Rose Revah, Sebastian Knapp, Paul Knops

I haven’t seen this movie, but I haven’t heard good things. I think you’re better off watching The Bible miniseries, which this movie is based on, which is now streaming on Netflix. WATCH ON NETFLIX! Special features included are:

  • Son of God: Reborn
    • 30 Minute Docu-Story Christians Today
    • Jesus for New Generation
  • Making of Video (includes Spanish version)
  • Son of God Set
  • Compassion Video
