Will Ghostbusters 3 actually happen? Three different stories from the contributing actors have surfaced and if you are looking forward to this film being made, then these might be quite misleading. Bill Murray stated last month that the film is “just a myth,” and that “all this talk is just talk.” But other cast members have shared different stories on the progress of the film.

Can Matthew Vaughn Make a Kick Ass X-Men Prequel?
Stories have been thrown back and forth whether or not Kick-Ass director, Matthew Vaughn, would be helming the prequel/reboot of the X-Men franchise new film, X-Men: First Class, based off the comic book written by Jeff Parker. Many names were dropped (Louis Leterrier, Jonathan Mostow, Daniel Espinosa, Rupert Sanders, Timur Bekmambetov, David Slade, and Carl Erick Rinsch) in terms of who would be placed to direct this film, but ultimately the final decision has been placed on Matthew Vaughn for a June, 3, 2011 release.
MOVIE POSTERS!!! Inception, Get Him to the Greek, Buried, The Last Airbender, and Scream 4

Well a lot of movie posters have been releasing lately and I finally had the time(?)/drive to want to post them. They are actually pretty cool, well except for Scream 4. The others are pretty badass. The Scream 4 tagline, I actually believe, is pretty catchy and smart on their part. Hopefully the franchise has a gameplan in mind without Neve Campbell and putting it all on David Arquette and Courtney Cox. The Last Airbender character posters are pretty spiffy, but I’m sure there are still people out there pissed about the casting, oh well. The new Inception poster was found sometime last week, I believe, and is pretty Chris Nolan if I do say so. Nothing too revealing, but just grabs your attention barely. Nolan is very minimalistic with his posters, but something about them are just really enjoyable. Buried has a really daring poster with very little to show, but a whole lot of engagement. Little do people know about this movie, but they will now after this poster. I find it very well done and frightening for a poster. Well done lads. Finally there is also, Get Him to the Greek, starring Jonah Hill and Russell Brand. I think this poster is trying to give The Hangover vibe, although the movie is nothing like The Hangover, the poster sure makes you want to believe it and perhaps fool audiences.

Anchorman 2 and Zoolander 2, At What Cost?
Recently Adam McKay, the writer/director of Anchorman, tweeted that Paramount has passed up the opportunity to budget Anchorman 2.
“So bummed. Paramount basically passed on Anchorman 2. Even after we cut our budget down. We tried.”
Along with that “sad” news, Ben Stiller tweeted that Zoolander 2 was being passed up as well by Paramount.
“Ron Burgundy and Derek Zoolander looking to appear in sequels. Both men destitute, without means or intellect to fund their own comebacks.”
More developing news on these films have come into play whether these sequels can actually get produced for the right price.
Will We See District 8?
Empire has caught up with Sharlto Copley about the possibility of a District 9 sequel with director Neill Blomkamp, in fact, from what he tells Empire is that there may be a prequel in the works. I’m sure it’s not going to be called Distrcit 8, but perhaps that got your attention anyways.
Smurfs Beware! Gargamel is Here!
The first official photo of Hank Azaria as Gargamel in Sony Pictures Animation/Columbia Pictures’ big screen CGI/live action hybrid 3D adaptation of The Smurfs has been released on ComingSoon.net. I think it is pretty hilarious that this film is underway and looks very believable in a sense that this was a cartoon character. The whole synopsis sounds to me like the movie Enchanted meets Alvin and the Chipmunks. I can’t wait to see where this film ends up when a trailer hits.
The Smurfs will be released August 3, 2011 with voices and acting from Neil Patrick Harris, Jayma Mays, Sofia Vergara, Anton Yelchin, Jonathan Winters, Katy Perry, Alan Cumming, Fred Armisen, George Lopez, Paul Reubens, John Oliver, Kenan Thompson, B.J. Novak, Jeff Foxworthy, Wolfgang Puck and Gary Basaraba.

Along with that big bombshell, G.I. Joe 2, which I could care less about, has a release expectation of Summer of 2012 thanks to interview with Lorenzo di Bonaventura at the MTV Movie Blog. What more can we ask for in terms of big Summer blockbusters other than asking Michael Bay for Transformers 4 a year after TF3? Or perhaps we shouldn’t……Wishfully Kick-Ass 2, but only in a perfect world.
