Fabio Challenges Old Spice Guy Isaiah Mustafa to a Duel

Have you missed your favorite Old Spice guy Isaiah Mustafa lately? Well fear not, Wieden+Kennedy has brought him back to duel the hairlicious Italian spokesmodel Fabio to prove who is the true Old Spice guy. While Isaiah Mustafa was probably saving baby seals with a laser gun that extracts from his chest, Fabio got it in his thick hair that he should be the new Old Spice guy. (The fact that they still label Isaiah Mustafa just as “Old Spice Guy” is pretty funny and sad.) This epic duel of man candy went back and forth this week “Baño a Baño” to settle who is the true “Old Spice guy.” And as the short viral campaign closed the true victor was declared by the people! Be sure to watch the epic battle unfold after the jump to see how it all started and who was crowned victorious!

The Mahna Mahna Killer, “Tune for Two”

I cannot say exactly where this short film surfaced, but all I know is that it is incredibly awesome. The original video might have come from Vimeo user,  alfa primo, but it also may have come from YouTube user, . This short film could be categorized as a dark comedy in my eyes. There is an unexpected twist you may not see coming, but you will find it quite amusing. Catch the Mahna Mahna Killer after the break!

Awkward Moments In Star Wars Geekdom

Alas, being part of a geek culture risks being segregated to a more unknown territory than the rest of civilized culture. Setting yourself up for awkward situations becomes a bit of a specialty when you regularly throw in a quote from Star Trek, Batman, Aliens, etc. Amateur filmmakers at Paperclip Films have put it upon themselves to showcase one of the most awkward moments in geek history, when you find out your friend hasn’t seen Star Wars. Find out how this conversation turns out after the break!

Where Do Your Eyes Take You?

Subconsciously we are probably never aware of where we tend to let our eyes wander when watching a movie. I know I try to at least give the whole frame as much attention as possible so I can view further details in the scenery and the environment. There is this amazing video, thanks to the David Bordwell’s Website on Cinema, that took a closer look into the mechanics of eye movements when watching a movie. They take a look at There Will Be Blood. You can view the video after the break.

I Am Jack’s Calvin and Hobbes

Hitting the nostalgia button, I engage in the viewing of this wonderfully edited video utilizing Bill Waterson’s Calvin and Hobbes comic and the soundtrack of the trailer to David Fincher’s Fight Club. I loved this comic when I was a young lad and this video (via Gorilla Mask)  is a great mash-up of two giants of different mediums that have been closely related in a previous theory. Check it out after the jump!

Great Commercials You Might Have Missed In 2010

In a world where we try to take advantage of commercial skipping devices, 2010 proved to be the year of great viral marketing ads and some seriously funny commercials that you couldn’t stop talking about. Isaiah Mustafa rocked the Old Spice commercials thanks to ad agency Weiden and Kennedy and the Geico commercials went full steam ahead with their double entaundre “Rhetorical Questions” campaign (Maxwell wee wee wee’d all the way home). But I found a few ads you might have missed in 2010. Check them out after the jump!

Dark Alternative Ending to Yogi Bear

Edmund Earle can be thanked for this parody, that has no association to Warner Brothers, which captures the dark essence between the relationship of Yogi Bear and Boo Boo. Paul Scheer can also be thanked for discovering this gem, which he tweeted a few weeks ago. Yes, I know how old this entry is, I’ve been lazy. I’m actually surprised it is still available to watch. You can check out the gritty Yogi Bear alternative ending after the jump!

All Four Dream Levels of Inception in a Real-Time Split Screen

This is an ingenious use of video editing to showcase the genius behind Chris Nolan’s Inception. I’m sure they can’t all have been exactly aligned together with some of the sequences perhaps shown longer shots than the other dream sequences, but these guy(s) really got it down to as precise as they could. Check out this great video, not awesome video, after the break!
