Great Commercials You Might Have Missed In 2010

In a world where we try to take advantage of commercial skipping devices, 2010 proved to be the year of great viral marketing ads and some seriously funny commercials that you couldn’t stop talking about. Isaiah Mustafa rocked the Old Spice commercials thanks to ad agency Weiden and Kennedy and the Geico commercials went full steam ahead with their double entaundre “Rhetorical Questions” campaign (Maxwell wee wee wee’d all the way home). But I found a few ads you might have missed in 2010. Check them out after the jump!

Roger Ebert’s and Edgar Wright’s Top Films of 2010

The year was 2010 and it was not as kind to movies as previous years have been. With that being said, Roger Ebert was able to pull up his strength to create his top 10 favorite films of 2010 while Edgar Write was asked by GQ to create a top 5. You can see their lists after the jump!

Become Inspired By Tom Shadyac’s ‘I Am’ Documentary Trailer

Who is Tom Shadyac you might ask? Well Tom Shadyac has been in director’s chair for one of the most recognizable comedic libraries of the current era (Ace Venture: Pet Detective; The Nutty Professor; Bruce Almighty; Liar, Liar; Patch Adams). But after a near-death experience Tom Shadyac gave away all of his money and decided to go on an adventure to explore the human condition and how we can improve the world. With a crew of four cameramen, Tom Shadyac embarked on a journey to ask some of the most brilliant minds throughout the world how we can change for the better. You can get inspired by the trailer after the jump and see the film in February when it is released.

Dark Alternative Ending to Yogi Bear

Edmund Earle can be thanked for this parody, that has no association to Warner Brothers, which captures the dark essence between the relationship of Yogi Bear and Boo Boo. Paul Scheer can also be thanked for discovering this gem, which he tweeted a few weeks ago. Yes, I know how old this entry is, I’ve been lazy. I’m actually surprised it is still available to watch. You can check out the gritty Yogi Bear alternative ending after the jump!

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides Teaser Trailer

Franchise nostalgia start your engines. Pirates of the Caribbean has not seen a movie since 2007 and many believed that the franchise would never see another movie with all of the mixed emotions of the second and third movies. I, myself, find them easily acceptable, but nothing too amazing praise about. The first one will always hold a place in my heart. But let’s talk about this teaser trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, which you can watch after the jump and look for the movie May 20, 2011! [Update 1/2: I just nabbed over 150 screenshots of the trailer too!]

Gen Ip’s ‘Filmography 2010’

Tis the end of the year and another round of movie montage videos are under way, but this particular video, created by Gen Ip, has really stepped up the bar and I believe it is one of the best that I’ve ever seen. She has taken 270 movies from 2010 (practically 99% of the theatrical releases) and integrated them into a six minute video. You can check out Gen’s YouTube channel where you can find other little gems of hers. After the jump check out the remarkable montage video and snippets from the ‘making of’ interview from David Chen of /Film.

The ‘Blah Blah Blah’ of Movies

No, this video is not about Ke$ha, thankfully. What this video is is a montage of a lot of movies where characters utilize the always casual “blah blah blah” within their dialogue. Watch it after the break.

68th Annual Golden Globe Nominees

Josh Duhamel, Katie Holmes, and Blair Underwood announced the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s 25 categories and their nominees for the 68th Annual Golden Globes on December 14 at The Beverly Hilton Hotel. This news comes late, but hey, I was lazy busy. Most of these don’t come as too much of a shock other than The Tourist, which I never would have guessed was a Comedy or Musical. Go figure.  I won’t get into the nitty gritty about how everyone tosses out the HFPA’s opinion (Avatar over the Hurt Locker), but I can accept the ceremony for its entertainment value and nothing further.

The 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards will premier live Sunday, January 16, 2011 on NBC from 8:00-11:00 p.m. (EST) from the Beverly Hilton Hotel hosted again by Ricky Gervais who was most certainly drunk last year.  You can catch the nominees after the break.
