Marc Webb, (500) Days of Spider-Man?

Spider-Man is the big film bomb of the week and Director Marc Webb, (500) Days of Summer director, is getting buzz and reports that he apparently is on the top of Sony’s list to direct the new reboot(s) of Spider-Man. According to Mike Fleming of Deadline Hollywood reports this interesting news rumor. Finke says “Webb met about the Spidey reboot with the pic’s producers and executives looking to get the picture into production later this year for a Summer 2012 release.”

Who You Gonna Call? Ivan Reitman!!!

It is confirmed!! Thanks to the interwebs such as FirstShowing.net, Ivan Reitman, father of Jason Reitman (Juno, Up In The Air, Thank You For Smoking), has now been confirmed to direct Ghostbusters 3! Mr. Reitman has directed such epic pieces such as the two original Ghostbusters movies as well as Kindergarten Cop and My Super Ex-Girlfriend.

This is exciting news for the geek community, especially since everyone from the original cast will be involved! Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Rick Moranis and Sigourney Weaver have all been announced to be in the new horror/sci-fi/comedy. Now who are going to be the newcomers to pass the torch to? Only time will tell, but Ivan Reitman is saying that filming should begin something this year and to expect a 2011 release date!

GET PUMPED!

Are You Ready for the 2010 Golden Globe Awards?

The 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards is coming upon us this weekend on Sunday January 17th, 2010. There will be a live telecast on NBC at 5 PM PST and 8 PM EST, SO DON’T MISS IT! I am kind of excited due to the fact that this is the first awards season where I actually have a particular want and interest in watching an award show. Thus, meaning, I am really really excited for the Academy Awards in March! But first, The Golden Globe Awards!

Now the Globes are kinda odd with their whacky split up categories, but hey, it’s original and keeps things interesting.  I am particular proud of my little (500) Days of Summer getting some play in this award show, hurrah! I really hope Up in The Air wins best picture as well. Avatar is a bit of a joke to me as far as award worthy. Was it a good film? Kinda……I’d say it could be put in categories such as best visual effects and best directing, but best picture, no, sorry. I like Meryl, she’s great and all, but to be nominated for two films in the same categories is kinda ridiculous, plus with all the films this year? Was she that great in It’s Complicated? I’m kind of upset that I Love You, Man was not nominated for best comedy/musical. If Role Models nominated, I think ILYM could be too. Also does Nine really belong in a best picture category? I mean I haven’t seen it, but it hasn’t gotten great reviews at all.

But anyways……So without further ado, the nominees are…………

Metal Gear Solid Film, NOT HAPPENING

TERRIBLE NEWS. I love my Metal Gear Solid and would love to see a film about it as soon as possible, but with breaking news from the higher powers above, they tell me that this will not happen anytime soon. I can see the upside that I would want to wait until a script and Konami are absolutely set on a good story and ready to take on this epic story.

Raimi Working On Spider-Man No More, Sony Reboots Franchise

Raimi, Dunst, MaGuire and anyone involved in the future Spider-Man 4 is out; that includes Mr. Malkovich who claimed to have agreed to play the Vulture if the script called for it. It appears due to creative differences Sony and Raimi are parting ways and Sony is looking to reboot the Spidey franchise. Sad news. I loved Raimi’s vision of the web-slinger and seeing different actors is unsettling. You can kind of look at it as the same situation with The X-Men with X-Men First Class in the works. Apparently they want to begin where Peter Parker began, back in high school and work from there all over again and will be in theaters in 2012. There have been many quotes, interviews, and reasonings behind this call to action after the jump… Continue reading

I’ve got a good list of some of the most anticipated films of 2010. Some I would really love to see and just a few here and there that are just some big names that a lot of people will see. From remakes to sequels to dramas to horror to comedy, 2010 has got it all. A little bit of this and a little bit of that, it looks like 2010 will be an interesting year of film. Hopefully it can keep up with 2009. Check out the list after the jump. Continue reading

Spider-Man 4 on Hiatus

How sad is this news. Wah Wah. Apparently there is writer conflicts within the development of the fourth installment of the Spider-Man franchise. Mr. Raimi does not like the latest script development and is having conflicts with Sony. You see, Sam Raimi wants the Vulture to be the main villain played by John Malkovich along with the Vulturess played by Anne Hathaway. Continue reading
