As one of the most risque marketed films of yesteryear, Nurse 3D is coming home on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD on April 8 after its short limited release in theaters. It’s quite common for horror movies such as Nurse 3D to get such a short run, and that’s fine. Sometimes it’s more rewarding to be able to find these celebrated genre titles on home video because it’s as if you have found El Dorado and can embrace it in the comfort of your own home. ‘Here Comes the Devil’ Arrives on Blu-Ray and DVD March 18
Horror movies are my jam, but unfortunately some smaller indie films slip through the cracks and I am unable to catch them on VOD or in the time they are in limited theaters. Which is why I am happy to announce Magnolia Home Enteratinment will be releasing the Mexican thriller Here Comes the Devil on Blu-Ray and DVD March 18. Written and directed by Adrián García Bogliano, this little horror has gotten much praise out of horror fans who have been able to check it out, so I cannot wait to see what the hype is all about. Movie Review: ‘Vampire Academy’ is Try Hard, Scooby-Doo Twilight Fan Fiction
Young adult series adaptations have it rough in a world where we have Harry Potter and Twilight. The level of expectations range from super premium all the way down to toxic sludge. There is little in-between, with no saving grace for those who push out properties just because there’s a large fan base behind the books. And as much as it may have seemed like a good idea, Vampire Academy (written by Richelle Mead) is yet another throwaway YA franchise that fails gloriously in the wake of Beautiful Creatures, The Host, Percy Jackson, and The Immortal Instruments.
