Bloody Marys All Around! Pirates of the Caribbean Teaser!

Whisperings and rumors of Captain Jack Sparrow’s next adventure to find the Fountain of Youth was teased this weekend at the San Diego Comic Con for the new movie Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Even if it weren’t not true, you wouldn’t be interested in viewing would you? He proposes the dangers of zombies, cutthroats, mermaids, and of course Penelope Cruz. I am pretty excited to see this movie, unlike others who were left with a bad taste in their mouths after the last two films, but I can side with that as well. That doesn’t make me run away from the franchise, as I still love the world that Jerry Bruckheimer created in the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Nothing new was really revealed in this teaser other than that it was presented in 3D at the con, but was released in 2D online obviously. The new movie is being shot in 3D so that will give new depth to the pirate world.

Zack Snyder’s ‘Sucker Punch’ Delivers a Surprising Blow

Sucker Punch has been described as Alice in Wonderland with machine guns, but I would like to believe, coming from Zack Snyder’s mind, that it will be so much more than that. Little has been said or revealed about this production until the San Diego Comic-Con hit this weekend. Not only has the website launched with a great visual homepage, but six character posters were also released that display the lovely and dangerous women of Sucker Punch. This is Snyder’s first original story that he has been writing for a few years during all his adaptations and remakes (Dawn of the Dead, Watchmen, 300, Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole). With his great visionary sense and a keen eye for action sequences, this film should have a great look to it. This will be a great way to kick-off 2011 and I cannot wait for this adventure to unfold. Check out the posters, homepage and more after the break!

Nickelodeon has sent out a press release, which SuperHeroHype obtained, giving information on the greenlight to “The Legend of Korra,” from “Avatar: The Last Airbender” series creators Micael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. The next series in the Avatar franchise is going to take place 70 years after the events of Avatar: The Last Airbender. The new Avatar will be a  hot headed rebellious teenage girl who we follow after she has mastered three of the four elements and now looks for a master to teach her airbending. She meets Aang’s son, Tenzin, in the middle of the biggest city in the world now, Republic City. There their travels take them through adventures to help fight crime and solve mysteries in the new world. After watching the highly praised series, I can vouch and say that this is pretty awesome news. I hope they maintain the spirit and creativity that the first series offered. The Rise and Fall of 3D Movies?

Some 3D movies can be done pretty well, Avatar and How to Train Your Dragon prove this point. But with this rising trend there has been an increasing decline. Movie after movie, audiences are being bombarded with 3D films, but most of them are all post converted. Films that were not meant to be in 3D are shot like a regular movie, but assuming the studios want to squeeze those extra bucks out of your pockets want to transfer the films into 3D versions without any second thought. Movies like Clash of the Titans, Alice in Wonderland, and The Last Airbender are all examples of post 3D converted movies and have had horrible results in their transitions. Continue reading

Transformers 3 Plot Details and More!

Of course, what would be a big budget franchise without the use of 3D? Transformers 3 is now confirmed to be tainted with the 3D stamp of approval, but no word on whether it will be post converted or shot in 3D. My assumption is that it will be post converted, due to Michael Bay’s lack of respect towards the technology. I don’t really blame him for his type of filming and that this was only a settlement on behalf of the studio’s demands. USA Today got the first big scoop of the big details and many more that have been speculated for Transformers 3. Spoiler warnings come after the jump!
