The big news hit today from Deadline that the little vixen with the big mouth, Megan Fox, has been passed up in Transformers 3. Paramount had decided not to use the sassy young starlet and Michael Bay had the final say. Other sources from Variety and People have as well confirmed this story. With that being said and the ominous approaching shooting start for Transformers 3, there have already been discussions on a new love interest for leading man Shia LaBeouf.
From Entertainment Weekly, Paramount has confirmed the casting of Grey’s Anatomy actor, Patrick Dempsey, to be in Michael Bay’s Transformers 3. Demspey will be taking on the role of Mikaela Bane’s (Megan Fox) boss. His character also has alternative motives other than bossing around the brunette princess when he told BOL in an interview and translated, “Transformers 3, in which I’ll play a character who is much “darker” than the others.” Hopefully with their intentions of “keeping mythology,” Dempsey will play mad scientist Dr. Arkeville who will help the Decepticons with their plans to dominate the universe. Transformers 3 is set to be released in July, 2011 with Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, John Malkovich, Frances McDormand, Ken Jeong, and Kevin Dunn.
Recently Adam McKay, the writer/director of Anchorman, tweeted that Paramount has passed up the opportunity to budget Anchorman 2.
“So bummed. Paramount basically passed on Anchorman 2. Even after we cut our budget down. We tried.”
Along with that “sad” news, Ben Stiller tweeted that Zoolander 2 was being passed up as well by Paramount.
“Ron Burgundy and Derek Zoolander looking to appear in sequels. Both men destitute, without means or intellect to fund their own comebacks.”
More developing news on these films have come into play whether these sequels can actually get produced for the right price.
There has a been a lot of epic casting as of late for three very giant films coming up within the next few years. Chris Evans, Ian McShane, Penelope Cruz, Frances McDormand, John Malkovich, and Ken Jeong have all been confirmed to be a parts of in the mega franchises of Transformers, Captain America, and Pirates of the Caribbean. The second full length trailer for the epic superhero franchise, Iron Man 2, has been released tonight after the Oscars. It sure is pretty spiffy and has tons of flashy explosions, girls, and hot new armors. Does this film still hold up to the gusto of the franchise or will it fall flat like Spider-man 3 did with all it’s characters? You decide. This trailer has a ton of new footage that helps link things together. It may give away almost too much, but it might have to if it wants to regain its fans and grab more attention to the not fanboys and girls out there.
You can see Iron Man opening in conventional theaters and IMAX on May 7, the Jon Favreau-directed sequel stars Robert DowneyJr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Jon Favreau, Mickey Rourke, Sam Rockwell, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Garry Shandling, John Slattery, Kate Mara, Clark Gregg and Olivia Munn.

This second poster reveals very little with just another highlighted word and a possible Thor like connection?! Ugh. Very few horror films have that certain spark that can shock and awe these days. Paranormal Activity shocked, awed, and hung with the best of them. This micro-budget – and we’re talking micro-budget of $15,000 – reminded audiences that we can be scared back into theaters once more. With Blair Witch like intentions, this found footage horror sends chills down your spine and turns your skin white as a ghost.
According to Variety & Hollywood Reporter, Anthony Hopkins will take on the roll of Odin, the father of Thor and Loki, to be played by Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston, respectively. Natalie Portman is playing Thor’s love interest, Jane Foster.
In the movie, written by Mark Protosevich and Zack Stentz, the powerful but arrogant warrior Thor’s reckless actions re-ignite an ancient war. As punishment, Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans. Once here, he learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends dark forces of Asgard to invade Earth.
Paramount Pictures will release the film on May 20, 2011.
