‘Community’ is Back for Round 4! But at What Cost?

Community Season 4

With last year’s mid-season hiatus, many fans feared the worst. Left without a glimmer of hope, fellow Human Beings were in their dark whether their beloved Community would even come back on the air. Luckily, NBC did the right thing and finished the third season strong, but again left the future wide open to speculation of the show’s return.

Keeping audiences on the edge of their seat, NBC recently announced that we’d be getting a fourth season of Community, fully equipped with 13-episodes. Unfortunately the show has been bumped from Thursday to Friday night – which many in the entertainment industry declare is a series suicide – but hopefully with its fan-base, Community will be able to survive. But who would be returning, and who has been let go?  Continue reading

American Horror Story House For Sale And Season 2 News

American Horror Story House and Season 2

After a rollercoaster of a season, Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk somehow pulled off a show that many had dismissed on the very early stages – myself included – with a pretty decent ending to the Harmon family. Now that the first season of American Horror Story neatly tied up loose ends and was left with a tidy little bow, what could be in store for season 2? Continue reading

Did you ever expect to get a reprieve after the events of the Lost season finale? Well you can take comfort knowing that Damon Lindelof is sorry for what happened if you were thoroughly disappointed in what happened in the end of Lost. Nickeloden Greenlights Avatar: The Legend of Korra

Nickelodeon has sent out a press release, which SuperHeroHype obtained, giving information on the greenlight to “The Legend of Korra,” from “Avatar: The Last Airbender” series creators Micael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. The next series in the Avatar franchise is going to take place 70 years after the events of Avatar: The Last Airbender. The new Avatar will be a  hot headed rebellious teenage girl who we follow after she has mastered three of the four elements and now looks for a master to teach her airbending. She meets Aang’s son, Tenzin, in the middle of the biggest city in the world now, Republic City. There their travels take them through adventures to help fight crime and solve mysteries in the new world. After watching the highly praised series, I can vouch and say that this is pretty awesome news. I hope they maintain the spirit and creativity that the first series offered. Epic Purchase: Disney Buys Marvel Entertainment Inc. for $4.24 Billion

marvel_comics_1

WHAT??!?!?!?! Disney has just purchased Marvel Entertainment Inc. for a sum $4 billion dollars. This is just ridiculous. The closing price of Disney stock on Friday, August 28, their stock was $50 each, which will be distrtibuted to Marvel for their company that accumulates to the $4 billion.

According to Walt Disney Company:

“This transaction combines Marvel’s strong global brand and world-renowned library of characters including Iron Man, Spider-Man, X-Men, Captain America, Fantastic Four and Thor with Disney’s creative skills, unparalleled global portfolio of entertainment properties, and a business structure that maximizes the value of creative properties across multiple platforms and territories,” said Robert A. Iger, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company. “Ike Perlmutter and his team have done an impressive job of nurturing these properties and have created significant value. We are pleased to bring this talent and these great assets to Disney.”

Under the deal, Disney will acquire ownership of Marvel including its more than 5,000 Marvel characters. Mr. Perlmutter will oversee the Marvel properties, and will work directly with Disney’s global lines of business to build and further integrate Marvel’s properties.

From Superhero Hype:

UPDATE #1: In a conference call, the companies said that the deals for movies for characters at other studios (Spider-Man, X-Men, etc.) will stay in place under the terms set by Marvel and the other studios.

UPDATE #2: John Lasseter met with Marvel last week about a possible team-up between Marvel and Pixar and got “pretty excited, pretty fast.” They say there’s definitely an opportunity there.

UPDATE #3: The deal with Paramount Pictures to distribute “Iron Man 2,” “Thor,” “Captain America” and “The Avengers” stays in place as well, but Disney would like to self-distribute down the line. “When the time comes we’ll take a closer look at it.” It was actually stated that the deal still included five films, so that is one more film after “The Avengers.”

Lost, Originally Lost and Found?

wa_lost-cast_02

A television producer, Anthony Spinner, is suing ABC and Touchstone Television claiming he created the show Lost in 1977. Strange that that’s close to the year that they are back in time in the show now? Many of the ideas of his original show seem to appear in the current Lost show now, which he wants to take credit for.  TMZ have compiled a list of the similarities from Spinner’s version of his Lost. He was paid $30,000 to come up with the original pilot of the show and was turned down in 1977, 1991, and 1994. His show featured a airplane headed to Los Angeles which crashes into a tropical jungle-like island, and tells the story of the survivors through the use of flashback sequences to their regular lives, pre-crash. The castaways included:

  • Doctor (Jack?) who was the humanitarian voice of the group,
  • Trailblazer (Locke?) who challenges the group to accept that they are stuck on the island,
  • Strategic military man (Sayid?),
  • Stubborn and reluctant semi-her (Sawyer?) who challenges the leadership and has a dark father-son past,
  • Drug addicted survivor (Charlie?),
  • Physically fit young woman who can perform many of the same tasks as the men (Kate?),
  • An ethnic minority character (Sayid?) that has to deal with the racial slurs from another survivor (Sawyer?),
  • Lone survivor of a scientific expedition (Roussau?) is found with gunpowder, secure shelter, and a relationship with others who were on the island before them (The Others)
  • Female lead with criminal past (Kate?)

His original show also came up with a love triangle and a cold weather animal in a tropical climate (tiger instead of polar bear) Could these only be coincidences or is there some sort of plot against Spinner? Who knows. Some are pretty stereotypical archetypes, but some ideas fit the pieces well. Who will win the battle. Will justice prevail?

Comedy Central Uses Some Sweet Skills

jon heder

Comedy Central has ordered up some Jon Heder for a new comedy sitcom. It will be about Heder coming from the big city working in an IT office to back home with his parents in a small town. Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Chris Henchy will be writing the series and will be distributed by Debmar-Mercury. They want to deliver 10 episodes and see where they go from there; most likely a flop. How far will this show go? Maybe a foot into the water, but will get frightened easily. Comedy Central, please just tell Matt Stone and Trey Parker to just create non stop episodes of South Park and we’ll be happy.

Olivia Munn Becomes Part of the Greek System

Variety reports that the Queen of Nerds, Olivia Munn, will partake in this upcoming season of Greek, which will air this August. She will be one of the leads love interests, which I am guessing is going to be either Cappie or Evan since Rusty and Dale both have girlfriends and Calvin is gay. So who knows, will Casey chase after Cappie, will Evan and Cappie be in another love triangle with miss Munn. Well you’ll have to watch and see what happens in the season 3 of Greek………
