At first look I wasn’t sure if I was looking at thumbnails of the trailer, but upon a closer look, this is in fact the first poster for Terrence Mallick’s The Tree of Life starring Brad Pitt and Sean Penn. This very beautiful poster is elegantly composed and full of mystery. It may not give any great detail about what this film is exactly about, but there is a certain chaotic grace among all of the stills from the film. Check out the entire poster after the jump!
The First Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 Poster
With the end of an era finally coming to a close this July, marketing has begun to start the unnecessary promotion of what is sure to be one of the biggest, if not the king, blockbuster of the year. The first official poster debuted today and it pretty much sums up that this will be the bout of the century, if this was a boxing movie. Harry is looking mighty old with that stubble and looks to be wanting to inflict some pain on the nose-less Voldemort. Check out the full poster after the jump and be sure to go see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 in theaters July 15!!!!
TeeHee: The Brocial Network
Ben Adams is an up and coming amateur filmmaker, a third year film student at The University of Texas, and the founder of Atomic Productions, an enthusiastic group of young filmmakers looking to make their mark in entertainment and film. You can follow Ben on Twitter or go to Atomic’s YouTube page for more videos.
Their crowning achievement to date, I believe, is their parody of David Fincher’s The Social Network. Their next venture seems to be working on a series of web videos for TotalFratMove.com, which I am highly looking forward to. Check out “The Brocial Network” after the jump, along with an added special bonus video!
Neato: Awesome Animal Beatbox
Let’s face it, the music industry is a dying breed. It has lost its edge and we are stuck with the same boring music we hear a 1000 times over with as much autotune as possible. Could Rebecca Black be foreshadowing the music industry’s future? Probably. But when little gems like, Animal Beatbox, directed by Damon Gameau, come into play, it brings a sparkle of hope that there is some creativity left in this world. Damon Gameau won Tropfest 2011 Australia, the world’s largest short film festival. My hat goes off to you Mr. Gameau. Check out Animal Beatbox after the break for some real musical talent.
TeeHee: Iraqi Tron
Those crazy Iraqi’s, what will they think of next? Iraqi Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? I hope so. Check out this funny parody of Tron: Legacy written by Fahim Anwar and Aristotle Athiras, who could have a good future in funny filmmaking. The video is after the jump of course!
T-He: Ms. Black Swan
Better known as the voice of Lois Griffin on Family Guy these days, Alex Borstein has returned to her early days as THE Ms. Swan. The ex-MadTV star has written and produced an awesome parody of 2010’s classic Black Swan. Returning to her roots, Borstein brings back one of the most memorable characters of recent television comedy. You can check out her video after the jump and be sure to check out her website as well!
The Ultimate “Noooooo” Compilation
One of the silliest and perhaps overly used dramatic word in all of film, television, and other mediums has found its way into one of the longest montages ever made. Noooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is not a single “no” left out to be discriminated against. With over 150 instances of the simple word, this montage proves to be quite entertaining. Yes! Check it out after the break!
Apparently I’m The Cool Person of the Day
The peoples over at OneTrueFan.com seem to think I’m a pretty cool cat. Well that’s neat. Thanks fellas/gals. Check out their app website and sign up to support your favorite websites.
The 2010 Brandcameo Award Winners
Who knew that a little thing like Reeses Pieces could spark a cultural complexity and annoyance such as product placement. Being a geek of both arts, advertising and film, I wonder to myself, how have I never heard of these awards? Well your guess is as good as mine. But moving forward… the Brandchannel has furiously tabulated product placement for over the past decade. Each year they honor the good, the bad, and the ugly of product placement in films. To see who the big winners are, find out after the break!
Neato: The Art of a Foley
What is a Foley you ask? Well a foley is a person who is in charge of imagining the elements that are made up of a sound to replicate it for actions in film. You’d never think that they would have to recreate all of the sounds you hear when you are watching a movie, but in fact, most of the sounds you hear are not recorded while filming the actors. They make all the extras whisper to capture the dialogue. To find out more about what a foley has up his sleeves, check out the great short documentary of foley artist Gary Hecker after the jump.
