Apple Has Announced Their iPad! The Future is Now?!

Well it is finally here, the new Apple Tablet everyone has been talking about and just waiting for them to officially announce has finally come upon us. The Apple iPad is the newest gem in the sea of ridiculous technology Apple has brought to us. This iPad is basically a gigantic iPhone with higher quality display, a giant keyboard, and a book store like the kindle. On the Apple site, they claim to have over 140,000 applications at your disposal to cram into your pad. The iPad is definitely more advanced than the the iPhone; it is practically the inbetween of the iPhone and MacBook. It has programs such as Safari, KeyNote, Pages, and Numbers. It is pretty cool, but will the hype last? I mean it is cool, but with the portability of the iPhone and capacity and more options the Apple laptops have, is there really a need to have the iPad other than to show off that you are “hip” with the age? People Are Diggin’ ‘Buried’

Ryan Reynolds’ new film, Buried, is getting so much hype from this years Sundance Film Festival. Buried‘s only star and actor is Ryan Reynolds; there are other people in the film, but more like voice actors. The film is a Rodrigo Cortés directed film written by Chris Spelling; a bit of unknown talent as far as the film industry goes. Paul (Reynolds) is a U.S. contractor working in Iraq. After an attack by a group of Iraqis he wakes to find he is buried alive inside a coffin. With only a lighter and a cell phone it’s a race against time to escape this claustrophobic death trap.

After the official screening at Sundance, critics at Firstshowing.net and /Film.com have been praising this film. There has been so much praise, in fact that Lionsgate have picked up the film for distribution; hopefully for a very soon release date. I am pretty excited to see this film since Reynolds is my favorite actor. This film seems like a little gem that breaks away from the norm and is pretty ballsy and new. I like it. I can’t wait to see this film

100 Films Once More, 65 To Go

Well I have done it again. I have accomplished another viewing of 100 films I have never seen before in my life. This has taken over the last 63 days of my life. If you haven’t been following me, a while back on May 17, 2009, I got this crazy idea in my head that I would up my film palette and explore new films and watch a whole bunch that I have never seen before due to an apparent realization that I, in fact, have never seen a lot of movies. I was some what aware of this, but this growing hobby of film had not made me realize the severity of what I have been missing out with such limited films I have seen.

So starting May 17, 2009, I had ventured out an idea to accomplish an original goal of 100 movies by the end of the summer; practically a 100 movies in 100 days. By the time I finished the goal I was at 93 days in and felt that I should try this again. By the time I did, here we are 300 films later.

This Time I feel like my films I have chosen have broaden dramatically and even opened up to computer animated films, which is something I never would have allowed before. I seem to be running out of classics, though, as this list appears to be more modern to me, but still dwells in old classics.

As I stated before, I have finished watching another 100 films I have never seen before in a startling 63 days. As this third trial had started I figured I would change my goal of instead of just watching 100 movies every time in 100 days, I would try to just watch more than a years worth under a years time. Soooo, I currently am at 300 films under my wing and at day number 248. Only 65 more films in 117 days……I’m pretty sure I can do that and we’ll see how many films I can get to by May 17 this year. Am I sick person?

Now with out further ado, my current list of 100 films I have never seen before:

Official: (500) Days Of Spider-Man

Marc Webb, the director of the Golden Globe nominated (500) Days of Summer has been confirmed to direct the new Sony produced Spider-Man Trilogy Reboot. How crazy. Last week or so it was rumored about and bubbling around the Interwebs, now its Webb’s dream come true. According to /Film and Vulture, this can be claimed official and production will most likely start to begin shortly for the first of the trilogies release date  in 2012.

“The reboot allows Sony to clean house of all the high price-tag cast and crew from the original trilogy. Webb will be paid roughly $10 million for the first film, with reported substantial bonuses built in “if the picture reaches certain box-office milestones.” Sam Raimi was paid $10 million for the original Spider-Man film, but that was nearly ten years ago. The Evil Dead director’s agreement included a percentage of the film’s grosses (nearly 25 percent when combined with star Tobey Maguire on the last sequel).” – /Film

This should prove to be an interesting approach to a superhero film as this award winning music video director is faced with a big challenge of epic proportions. I’m sure he can reach the target audience of a younger generation, but will this be a good story or entertaining for fan boys or lovers of Raimi’s Spider-man. Only time will tell and I’m hoping for the best since (500) DOS was amazing.
