First Look: The Dwarves of The Hobbit

Pre-Comic-Con, images of individual and groups of dwarves from Peter Jackson’s upcoming film The Hobbit: The Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: There and Back Again have been sprouting up. Now I’m not quite sure if someone Photoshopped all of them together or if this is an official image, but I really like this group shot of the infamous 12 dwarves from the classic J.R.R. Tolkien book The Hobbit.

There is a really great sense of place with their costume design. They all seem to fit perfectly within Peter Jackson’s Midde-Earth realm from The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Could Mr. Jackson be setting up for another Oscar run? Perhaps, but I’m not going to hold my breath. With the way Harry Potter was split up, I don’t put too much faith in movies that are part of a whole. What do you think of the 12 dwarves abound to take back their gold from the evil dragon Smaug?

[HuffPo] From left to right, we welcome Jed Brophy as Nori, Dean O’Gorman as Fili, Mark Hadlow as Dori, James Nesbitt as Bofur, Peter Hambleton as Gloin, Graham McTavish as Dwalin, Richard Armitage as Thorin Oakenshield, Ken Stott as Balin, John Callen as Oin, Stephen Hunter as Bombur, William Kircher as Bifur, Adam Brown as Ori and Aidan Turner as Kili.

TeeHee: Winnie the Pooh Needs Meds Too!

Illustrator and cool guy Dan Meth creates a lot of fun pop-culture pieces that reflect his quirky mind. He has been slowly developing various pop-culture graphs/charts in his spare time and his recent one had caught my eye. What if Winnie the Pooh and Tigger too needed meds, and what about that Christopher Robin fellow, he doesn’t seem all too right in his head. It’s something that’s just funny, which makes the Internets that much more entertaining! Check out more of Dan Meth’s charts and his other work as well too!

The First Official Look at Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle aka Catwoman

And there you have it folks. Hot off TheDarkKnightRises.com last night at 2am PST, the first official picture of Anne Hathaway as the sleuth Selina Kyle aka Catwoman has been released. But where are the ears?! I want them meow! I can dig everything else, the suit is in the essence of the Nolanverse being ideally realistic, but come on man, give me some cat ears or at the least a whip.  Maybe she’ll have her whip in the movie, but I’m not seeing the iconic weapon here nor in the set photos after the jump!

Neato: Harry Potter Imagined as a Disney Characters

It’s only a matter of time before something like this is going to happen. I don’t think J.K. Rowling’s gold throne in her platinum mansion with her diamond crown is going to suit her much longer if the Harry Potter franchise loses its steam. So why not make it into a marketable cartoon of hijinks and teenage woe? You can find a full list of character concepts after the jump!

Neato: Animation Color Wheel

You meet a lot of strange and colorful individuals through all different kinds of animated features and shows. The genius minds over at Slate.com decided to create an amazing spectrum of color utilizing various different animated characters throughout time in honor of The Smurfs releasing this past weekend. There are so many iconic figures in this wheel that it brings way too much nostalgia that I might strike a tear. Doubtful since I removed my tear ducts in a surgery last fall. Personal Challenge: Avoid Movie Trailers

Long ago I would have embraced every ounce of marketing a film would have to offer. Teasers, trailers, clips, set photos, posters, and TV spots were all on the table as I readily accepted each into my palette before I watched a movie. NO MORE I SAY! I was blind, but now I see!

How stupid could you be to ruin a movie for yourself before you even step into a theater to see it?  As a personal challenge to myself I will not be partaking in any viewings of any teaser trailers, theatrical trailers, clips, or TV spots for The Dark Knight Rises, The Avengers, Superman: Man of Steel, or The Amazing Spider-man. Find out how this all began after the jump!

What’s In A Name? How 50 Big Corporations Found Their Names

I bet you never thought about what NABISCO means. How about the three M’s in 3M? Did you know that 7-Eleven’s original name was U-Tote’m until they started to open at 7am and close at 11pm? AMC Theatres were the first movie theater chain to open a multi-screen cinema, thus American Multi-Cinema was born. Do you find these facts interesting? “Taste The Rainbow” Takes On A Whole New Meaning (NSFW)

The creative team of TBWA/Chiat/Day are no longer at the helm of the Skittles account, but that won’t stop freelancers from making their own concoction of fantastical ads for the rainbow candy. The creative minds over at Cousins, a video production company out of LA, decided to make a nice little parody of the brand that goes far beyond your A-typical “sex sells” commercial.

As the title of this post suggests, this ad is a tad unsuitable for the workplace so please take caution. Their work is in no way affiliated with the Skittles brand or Wrigley, but produced just for the sheer comedic value capitalizing on the weird tradition of Skittles ads that have taken place as of late. Watch the little diddy after the jump!
