Turn The Right Corner’s 2-Year Reflection

With the culmination of July, we have reached the 2-year anniversary of when this little blog started back in 2009. I never would have thought I’d keep on going for this long, but hey, it’s working out quite well. Thanks to you peoples my viewership continues to rise and I am forever grateful that this is not just a waste of my time.

I believe my writing has gotten better through it and although over the past few months I haven’t posted as often as I would have liked, I see a brighter future where posts will happen daily. Thanks to a friends suggestion, I’ll be utilizing the publicizing tool more that way if I have writing binges I don’t have to post them all at once and can have new material daily! How do you like them apples?

Also if you hadn’t noticed I had finally purchased the domain name to TurnTheRightCorner.com! We’re a DOT COM now! How official. If you also haven’t noticed, I’ve also set up a Tumblr account: turntherightcorner.tumblr.com.

I know my numbers are probably miniscule compared to the millions of viewers a day that great sites like /Film, Screenrant, FirstShowing.net, or FilmDrunk achieve, but hey, I would have thought I’d be getting about 20 views a day, so that says something right? So again, thank you to the past, present, and future readers of Turn The Right Corner.

I should be pushing out some reviews from all the great and horrible movies this year as I have seen pretty much a good chunk of them. So keep your eyes peeled.

Oh! And I will get that damn header done one of these days. I promise it will be kind of cool.

The Last Airbender: The Legend of Korra Trailer

Not only was the movie, The Last Airbender, a horrible adaptation of a great animated series, but it was a complete insult to everything that  Avatar: The Last Airbender had created. With hopes of redemption, I believe that The Last Airbender: The Legend of Korra will make up for M. Night Shamalamadingdong’s failure and save this once great franchise. At this year’s Comic-Con, the folks at Nickelodeon had brought the first trailer for The Legend of Korra and it was more than anyone could have dreamed of. Watch the spectacular trailer after the jump!

The Amazing Spider-man Teaser Trailer

A few weeks ago, right before Comic-Con, the first teaser trailer for Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-man hit the Internets. Some have said it to be a lot darker than Sam Raimi’s trilogy, which makes it easily stand on its own, while others question what Sony Pictures may have in store for this property.

There is no official plot synopsis yet, not even from the official website, but from what most have gathered Spider-man, played by Andrew Garfield (The Social Network; Never Let Me Go) will be facing off against Doc Connors aka “The Lizard,” played by Rhys Ifans (Pirate Radio; Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1; Notting Hill) in a complete reboot and origin story with no Mary Jane in tow. Replacing Mary Jane Watson as the love interest will be Gwen Stacy, played by the natural blonde Emma Stone (Easy A; Superbad; The Help).

Catch the teaser trailer after the jump along with a few other production stills!

TeeHee: The Devil’s Dirty Work!

Most advertising and commercials are pushed aside and never thought of again, but every once in a while you will come across a diamond in the rough that is completely unforgettable. Sometimes it is just the simplest ideas that take off and springboard conversation at your next water cooler visit. It is commercials like these that put trust in my decision to pursue a life in this industry. If I could create one unforgettable commercial like this than I know I have fulfilled my dreams. To see what I’m talking about you’ll just have to watch the video after the jump because I don’t want to give away any spoilerific details (even though the title in the embed will probably give it away… SO NO PEEKING!)

‘Like Crazy’ Trailer and Poster

This trailer for Like Crazy is the purest definition of an indie film ever. Even without the horrible sound mixing of the trailer it just reeks of independent filmmaking. I can’t tell you why the music overshadows half of the dialogue in this trailer, but what I can tell you is that this film won the Sundance Film Festivals “Best Picture Grand Jury Prize” and “Best Actress Special Jury Prize” for Felicity Jones’ performance.

It looks like this year’s Blue Valentine, which was a film I held in my top 10 best films of 2011. It has a great young cast: Anton Yelchin (Alpha Dog, Charlie Bartlett, Star Trek), Felicity Jones (Northanger Abbey, The Tempest), Jennifer Lawrence (Winter’s Bone, X-Men: First Class, The Hunger Games ), and Charlie Bewley (Twilight New Moon and Eclipse). The director is unknown to me, Drake Doremus (Douchebag; Moonpie), but if a director can pull off the biggest award of Sundance than he is someone to look out for and I’ll definitely be waiting in anticipation for this film!

Check out the full trailer and synopsis of Like Crazy after the jump and be sure to look out for this film when it comes out October 28!

First Look: The Dwarves of The Hobbit

Pre-Comic-Con, images of individual and groups of dwarves from Peter Jackson’s upcoming film The Hobbit: The Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: There and Back Again have been sprouting up. Now I’m not quite sure if someone Photoshopped all of them together or if this is an official image, but I really like this group shot of the infamous 12 dwarves from the classic J.R.R. Tolkien book The Hobbit.

There is a really great sense of place with their costume design. They all seem to fit perfectly within Peter Jackson’s Midde-Earth realm from The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Could Mr. Jackson be setting up for another Oscar run? Perhaps, but I’m not going to hold my breath. With the way Harry Potter was split up, I don’t put too much faith in movies that are part of a whole. What do you think of the 12 dwarves abound to take back their gold from the evil dragon Smaug?

[HuffPo] From left to right, we welcome Jed Brophy as Nori, Dean O’Gorman as Fili, Mark Hadlow as Dori, James Nesbitt as Bofur, Peter Hambleton as Gloin, Graham McTavish as Dwalin, Richard Armitage as Thorin Oakenshield, Ken Stott as Balin, John Callen as Oin, Stephen Hunter as Bombur, William Kircher as Bifur, Adam Brown as Ori and Aidan Turner as Kili.

TeeHee: Winnie the Pooh Needs Meds Too!

Illustrator and cool guy Dan Meth creates a lot of fun pop-culture pieces that reflect his quirky mind. He has been slowly developing various pop-culture graphs/charts in his spare time and his recent one had caught my eye. What if Winnie the Pooh and Tigger too needed meds, and what about that Christopher Robin fellow, he doesn’t seem all too right in his head. It’s something that’s just funny, which makes the Internets that much more entertaining! Check out more of Dan Meth’s charts and his other work as well too!

Harry Potter Drawn as Anime Characters

Haven’t had enough Harry Potter yet, well I’ve got one more post for you! Now I’d like to give credit where credit is due, but I can’t seem to find any original artist or poster on this illustration. There is a full on epic banner after the jump that your eyes must see! The entire cast is included in this beautiful drawing and it is not one to miss!

The First Official Look at Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle aka Catwoman

And there you have it folks. Hot off TheDarkKnightRises.com last night at 2am PST, the first official picture of Anne Hathaway as the sleuth Selina Kyle aka Catwoman has been released. But where are the ears?! I want them meow! I can dig everything else, the suit is in the essence of the Nolanverse being ideally realistic, but come on man, give me some cat ears or at the least a whip.  Maybe she’ll have her whip in the movie, but I’m not seeing the iconic weapon here nor in the set photos after the jump!

Neato: Harry Potter Imagined as a Disney Characters

It’s only a matter of time before something like this is going to happen. I don’t think J.K. Rowling’s gold throne in her platinum mansion with her diamond crown is going to suit her much longer if the Harry Potter franchise loses its steam. So why not make it into a marketable cartoon of hijinks and teenage woe? You can find a full list of character concepts after the jump!
