Lost’s Last Supper

The final season of Lost is coming upon us very soon and the marketers/cast/writers/etc decided to shoot two ‘last supper’ pictures to promote the final season I would assume. They are pretty cool and this has been done before with Battlestar Galatica, The Soprano’s, and House (although I’m not sure if House has had a last season or is on it’s last season yet). Avatar is Pocahontas, duh……

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Avatar is not that original, just amazing innovation of technology. When I first saw the film I was getting hints of four different films: The Matrix, Dances With Wolves, Ferngully, and Pocahontas. Now the “proof” is here with this little summary of story comparison of Avatar VS. Pocahontas. The source could be claimed by /Film for me, but I have no idea where they got it from. This is a pretty funny comparison and it pretty much does sum it up to be the same film. Go figure………? You can click on the image to enlarge it to get a better look.

An Epic Look at the Disney-Marvel Merger

I stumbled on this epic ‘mural’ of someone’s portrayal of the Disney and Marvel Comics merge. I think it’s pretty cool and someone put some good thought into it. Click on the picture to enlarge it. Plus if you didn’t know, the Marvel share holders approved the buy out this past week or so. Word……

My Best & Worst Films of 2009

Now I have not seen allll the films of 2009, but I have seen a great many this year. The year of 2009 has been a great year for film in all ranges of the category from cinematography, directing, writing and beyond. This year will be remembered for a long time to me as it was the year I gained this hobby/love interest of film. I wish I could have seen every film I wanted to this year as it would probably change my list, but we all can’t afford to see that many movies. Continue after the jump to see my picks for my best and worst of 2009:

The Magic of Blue/Green Screen

It’s amazing how much you don’t know how much blue/green screen they actually use in films these days and this little video will baffle you, unless you are really into film that much that you know the amount they use. Watch this little video and find yourself interested because this is pretty cool I think, so you should too if you read this.

Sorry due to copyrighting and all that legal mumbo jumbo, the video is no longer available through YouTube, but you can check it out below on the link.

The video is called “What You See Isn’t Always What You Get” but it’s actually a demo reel for Stargate Studios, a visual effects company that specializes in virtual backlots (which is what this kind of green screen removal is).

An Epic Look Back On the Films of 2009

Kees van Dijkhuizen created a little 7 minute recap of all the amazement of film of 2009. Cinema 2009: 1 Year, 342 Movies, 12 Months of Production, 7 Minutes. Watch this ish and enjoy because it is pretty exciting.

“2009 proved that innovation is rewarded, and for that reason, I’ve decided no film should be left behind. I’ve nearly tripled the amount of footage used in 2008: A Tribute To The Movies.”

You can view his work from last year at this link: Cinema 2008.
