A Thai ceiling company, Shera, has delivered an excellently tragic and hilarious ad to market their product. It may be my background in advertising or perhaps my long history of being obsessed with sharks when I was little, but this clever and well put together ad from BBDO just hit my funny bone the right way. BBDO is not unfamiliar with quirky and strange ads such as this one, you may recall back to the creepy Snickers lady. I think Snickers has done well for itself picking BBDO to campaign for them. Who knew that a little thing like Reeses Pieces could spark a cultural complexity and annoyance such as product placement. Being a geek of both arts, advertising and film, I wonder to myself, how have I never heard of these awards? Well your guess is as good as mine. Today, Sunday, February 6, 2011, is the biggest day for the NFL all year, but also one of the biggest days for television commercials as well. I’m going to be paying close attention to each ad and judge them based on a few factors: the entertainment value, creative originality, and the effectiveness of the message. Hopefully this year the agencies and in-house creatives have stepped up their game as last year wasn’t anything to special. Let the commercials begin! Check out the ads after the break!
