Alas, being part of a geek culture risks being segregated to a more unknown territory than the rest of civilized culture. Setting yourself up for awkward situations becomes a bit of a specialty when you regularly throw in a quote from Star Trek, Batman, Aliens, etc. Amateur filmmakers at Paperclip Films have put it upon themselves to showcase one of the most awkward moments in geek history, when you find out your friend hasn’t seen Star Wars. Find out how this conversation turns out after the break!

Movie Titles Said Within Movies
Whenever I hear the title of the movie spoken within the movie I always have the urge to say, “DING!” Sometimes movie titles within the movie can be used as a great device for comedy i.e. Hot Tub Time Machine, but most of the time it is either an idea or it just references the plot in some certain way. YouTube user, honsco, has edited a great little video with 81 films that utilize their title within itself. Check out the fun video after the break!
The World’s Greatest Extra, Jesse Heiman
One of my dreams has always been to be a part of a big budget motion picture as an extra. There has been one instance where I have “tried out” for a part in Transformers: Dark of the Moon and did not receive a call back. My friend, who wouldn’t have gone to the casting call unless I went, actually got casted as an extra and I am still, to this day, a bit peeved about it. C’est la vie.
But Mr. Jesse Heiman has discovered the secret to being cast as an extra and can be found in more big blockbusters than you would believe. From Old School and Van Wilder all the way to Spider-Man and Glee, Heiman has done it all with over 50 credits under his belt on his IMDb. He may be typecasted as a stereotypical nerd, but what really fascinates me is that he is in fact 32-years old while mostly being cast for roles half his age. Check out this awesome montage of a lot of his appearances after the break!
TeeHee: Predator: The Musical “If It Bleeds We Can Kill It!”
The folks who brought you Conan The Barbarian: The Musical, Commando: The Musical, and Terminator 2: The Opera, YouTube user, Legolambs, have put together their final Arnold Schwarzenneger musical with Predator! I believe this is their best work ever and it is almost unfortunate that they claim it to be the last of the Arnold musicals. If they could take Arnold out of retirement and put together a Kindergarten Cop or Turbo Man musical, that would be awesome, but like I said, Predator: The Musical is incredible and I don’t know how they can top it. Check it out after the break and behold the wonders of this amazing original song “If It Bleeds We Can Kill It!”
Awesome Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 Fan Posters
Over the weekend, the above poster was mistaken for a legit poster for the final Harry Potter movie coming out in July, The Deathly Hallows Part 2. Honestly, for how beautiful it is, I could see how this could be passed around as real. I did some digging and found that I stumbled on to a DeviantArt user by the name of jejfferson-hp. He has quite a few mock-ups for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 and I would hope that something good will come of them for the artist. I have a few more posted after the jump, so take a look!
The Hangover Part 2 Poster Debuts
It must be movie poster Monday because studios are on the full offensive delivering some pretty awesome posters today. The Hangover Part II poster debuted as well, on Facebook, and from the looks of it, there isn’t too much to be said here that many already know will happen. Without further ado, catch the poster after the jump!
Terrence Malick’s Tree of Life Poster Debuts!
At first look I wasn’t sure if I was looking at thumbnails of the trailer, but upon a closer look, this is in fact the first poster for Terrence Mallick’s The Tree of Life starring Brad Pitt and Sean Penn. This very beautiful poster is elegantly composed and full of mystery. It may not give any great detail about what this film is exactly about, but there is a certain chaotic grace among all of the stills from the film. Check out the entire poster after the jump!
The First Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 Poster
With the end of an era finally coming to a close this July, marketing has begun to start the unnecessary promotion of what is sure to be one of the biggest, if not the king, blockbuster of the year. The first official poster debuted today and it pretty much sums up that this will be the bout of the century, if this was a boxing movie. Harry is looking mighty old with that stubble and looks to be wanting to inflict some pain on the nose-less Voldemort. Check out the full poster after the jump and be sure to go see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 in theaters July 15!!!!
TeeHee: The Brocial Network
Ben Adams is an up and coming amateur filmmaker, a third year film student at The University of Texas, and the founder of Atomic Productions, an enthusiastic group of young filmmakers looking to make their mark in entertainment and film. You can follow Ben on Twitter or go to Atomic’s YouTube page for more videos.
Their crowning achievement to date, I believe, is their parody of David Fincher’s The Social Network. Their next venture seems to be working on a series of web videos for TotalFratMove.com, which I am highly looking forward to. Check out “The Brocial Network” after the jump, along with an added special bonus video!
Neato: Awesome Animal Beatbox
Let’s face it, the music industry is a dying breed. It has lost its edge and we are stuck with the same boring music we hear a 1000 times over with as much autotune as possible. Could Rebecca Black be foreshadowing the music industry’s future? Probably. But when little gems like, Animal Beatbox, directed by Damon Gameau, come into play, it brings a sparkle of hope that there is some creativity left in this world. Damon Gameau won Tropfest 2011 Australia, the world’s largest short film festival. My hat goes off to you Mr. Gameau. Check out Animal Beatbox after the break for some real musical talent.
