‘Here Comes the Devil’ Arrives on Blu-Ray and DVD March 18
Horror movies are my jam, but unfortunately some smaller indie films slip through the cracks and I am unable to catch them on VOD or in the time they are in limited theaters. Which is why I am happy to announce Magnolia Home Enteratinment will be releasing the Mexican thriller Here Comes the Devil on Blu-Ray and DVD March 18. Written and directed by Adrián García Bogliano, this little horror has gotten much praise out of horror fans who have been able to check it out, so I cannot wait to see what the hype is all about. Bring Home the Award-Winning ‘12 Years a Slave’ on Blu-ray and DVD March 4
I’m predicting the future, and what I foresee is that 12 Years a Slave will win Best Picture at the Oscars on March 2 and the home video sales will skyrocket once it releases on March 4, the following Tuesday. That’s perfectly timed isn’t it? 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment announced today the big release date for one of the most critically acclaimed films of 2013 – it was in my top 5 that’s for sure. 2014 Writers Guild of America Awards Winners
Last night the Writers Guild of America had their little get together to announce their favorites of 2013. Her (Spike Jonze) and Captain Phillips (Billy Ray) walked away with the top honors for Best Original and Best Adapted Screenplays, respectively. Two choices that were big surprises at the awards last night. It’s always fun to shake things up during Oscar season and there’s no better awards than screenplays to keep us on our toes. BREAKING: Philip Seymour Hoffman Found Dead in Apartment (1967–2014) [UPDATED]
News broke today that Academy Award-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman, age 46, was found dead earlier this morning in his West Village apartment of Manhattan. The New York City police department are still determining the cause of death in conjunction with the medical examiner. Nothing has been confirmed, but a report from the New York Post has thrown drugs into the mix and are claiming he was discovered with a hypodermic needle in his arm. That’s a pretty large claim, but we will update you as the story progresses. Continue reading

Brian Percival’s The Book Thief has already won three awards and been nominated six times for various other awards. It is also nominated for an Oscar for Best Score by John Williams. This emotionally charged book turned movie is soon to be released on March 11on Blu-ray and DVD. Staring the little know actress Sophie Nelisse and the incredibly talented Geoffrey Rush (Pirates of the Caribbean), The Book Thief will steal your heart.
