After an impressive Oscar run, Warner Bros. Home Enteratinment will be releasing Her on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD on May 13. Winning the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay (Spike Jonze), Her was also nominated for Best Picture, Original Score (Arcade Fire), and Original Song (Karen O for “Moon Song”), and Production Design. Last night the Writers Guild of America had their little get together to announce their favorites of 2013. Her (Spike Jonze) and Captain Phillips (Billy Ray) walked away with the top honors for Best Original and Best Adapted Screenplays, respectively. Two choices that were big surprises at the awards last night. It’s always fun to shake things up during Oscar season and there’s no better awards than screenplays to keep us on our toes. The 2014 Critics’ Choice Awards winners were announced this past week, live on the CW hosted by the very dry Aisha Tyler. Despite a few differential views from the Broadcast Film Critics Association, there were many similar winners the Hollywood Foreign Press Association chose at the Golden Globe Awards last weekend. This morning Thor Chris Hemsworth and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences president, Cheryl Boone Isaacs, were nice enough to wake up at the butt crack of dawn to announce the nominees for the 86th Annual Academy Awards. While there were many that stood out as “duh” nominations, like American Hustle and Gravity earning ten nominations and12 Years a Slave walking away with nine, there were snubs that actually surprised me this year.
