Mad Men is a show that has an incredible sense of place. Not every major world event from the 1960s appears, but from the settings, attire, and the way the characters treat one another is one of the greatest elements of the show. Exactly one year after Joss Whedon’s The Avengers, audiences every where have been anxiously awaiting Marvel Studios‘ Iron Man 3. You would think with how successful The Avengers has become, Iron Man 3 should have no problem coasting toward success. Financially, Iron Man 3 should do gangbusters – it already has overseas – but since Marvel has opened Pandora’s box to a greater cinematic universe, the true victory will rely on whether this film can hold up on its own without the crutch of the other Avengers. Although June 21st is the first official day of summer, Hollywood sees differently. Because there are not enough days in the year to pack all of the explosive, sexy, fast-paced blockbusters in just one season, May has been championed as the unofficial beginnings of summer. I’m not sure if Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson are trying to cut their careers short, but the clash of the generations depicted in the latest trailer for The Internship isn’t working. Although better than the teaser trailer, what we see here is still not stacking up. This new trailer explores further into the reaches of the characters and story, but The Internship still feels like a bit of a stretch in this day and age. Season 6 of AMC’s Mad Men has proven time and again why this is one of the best shows on television – and we’re only up to episode 5 tonight.
