Rumors about my favorite films tug on my heart strings hard, especially when the air is cleared. As Sin City 2 has proven, many things should be taken with a grain of salt until we find out the truth. And like Sin City 2, it appears that Kick-Ass 2 will not be happening anytime soon. How The Actors of Coen Brothers Film Connect
A brilliant UK graphic artist, Tom Muller, decided it would be best to utilize the Coen Brother’s extensive film catalog to create an infographic to depict how all the actors relate to one another. You can check out Tom’s site HelloMuller and check the infographic after the jump to see the well done chart.
And The 2010 Razzie Nominees Are…
The best of the worst of 2010 are on display now that the 31st Annual Razzie Award nominees have been released online. The Razzie Awards honor all of the films who have triumphantly failed miserably and those that were just outright terrible. I am pleased to see a new category encompassing 3D in the mix this year. Many of the nominees are no surprise and I look forward to see the winners when they are announced at 7:30pm/PST, Saturday, February 26 at Barnsdall Gallery Theatre in Hollywood. The first footage of Darren Lynn Bousman’s (Saw) Mother’s Day was recently shown in an unofficial trailer. This is a remake of the 1980 Troma original that has since taken on a new reimagining of the horror/thriller. Mother’s Day stars AJ Cook, Alexa Vega, Briana Evigan, Darren Lynn Bousman, Deborah Ann Woll, J. LaRose, Jaime King, Lisa Marcos, Lyriq Bent, Matt O’Leary, Patrick Flueger, Rebecca De Mornay, Shawn Ashmore, and Warren Kole. This film was suppose to release last year, but due to complicated issues it is now going to be finally released on April 1. Check out the trailer after the break!
If ‘Ghostbusters’ was ‘Inception’
It’s amazing how much music can affect the scene and tone of a film or television show. This great recut Ghostbusters trailer edited by YouTube user, Rothejfunk, is a perfect example of how music can affect the mood of the source material it is representing. He has taken Hans Zimmer’s score from Christopher Nolan’s Inception and completely turned this classic Ivan Reitman 80s comedy into a full out action drama. Watch the video after the break!
I Am Jack’s Calvin and Hobbes
Hitting the nostalgia button, I engage in the viewing of this wonderfully edited video utilizing Bill Waterson’s Calvin and Hobbes comic and the soundtrack of the trailer to David Fincher’s Fight Club. I loved this comic when I was a young lad and this video (via Gorilla Mask) is a great mash-up of two giants of different mediums that have been closely related in a previous theory. Check it out after the jump!
Fan Made ‘Lost’ Dharma Initiative Posters
Unfortunately Lost is gone, but in many minds, not forgotten. An award winning, freelance designer, Neil Richards, took it upon himself to design these really awesome Dharma Initiative posters from the series depicting each station to its unique function. Check out his work after the break and he’ll soon be selling each of these sooner or later too.
TeeHee: True Grit Literal Translation Subtitles
College Humor can be hit or miss depending on their target. This True Grit literal translation for Jeff Bridge’s dialogue as Rooster Cogburn is a hit; obviously that’s why I am posting it. I could tell what he was saying when I saw the film, but it is just funnier to imagine what he is saying with his mumbling speech subtitles in this video. Check it out after the break!
A Brief History of Product Placement in Cinema
Being an advertising grad, I tend to notice product placement perhaps a little more than the average bear, but FilmDrunk.com also has a product placement radar. The fine folks at FilmDrunk created a great little video montage depicting a brief history of product placement from the beginning to the present state of things in movies today. Watch the video after the break.
