66th Annual Directors Guild Awards Nominees Announced

As the road to Oscar carries on, the competition for Best Picture is not keeping calm. At the 66th Annual Directors Guild of America Awards, the top honor went to Alfonso Cuarón, who has previous won at the Critics Choice and Golden Globes. 12 Years a Slave and Gravity have been neck and neck, vying for votes and smashing expectations everywhere. With this win, it would seem as though Cuarón has this one in the bag for Best Director, but I wouldn’t count Slave out of the running for Best Picture. Notably, the PGA Awards have been looked upon as one of the best bets to determine which film would walk away with the Oscar for Best Picture. According to IndieWire.com, the PGA winner for Best Picture has matched the Oscars 17 times over the past 24 years, the last six times in fact. But with so many incredible movies in 2013 the Producers Guild of America knocked Hollywood on its ass by giving both Gravity and 12 Years a Slave Best Picture at the awards last night. 20th Annual SAG Awards Winners List

It was a pretty big night for awards season frontrunners at the 20th Annual SAG Awards. Everyone you pretty much expected to walk away with the Actor did. American Hustle took home the big prize for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, while Breaking Bad and Modern Family took it home for their respective televison categories for drama and comedy. Although the night was full of non-surprises, it was however a great night for acceptance speeches, especially from Lupita Nyong’o, Bryan Cranston, and Rita Moreno. The 66th Annual Directors Guild of America Awards nominees were announced yesterday with Gravity, Captain Phillips, 12 Years a Slave, American Hustle, and The Wolf of Wall Street each earning recognition. The DGA Awards are usually sought at as one of the biggest indicators of Oscar. Winners will be announced January 25. As we head into the weekend with the Golden Globes, the road to the Academy Awards is beginning to shape up very nicely. 2014 Producers Guild Awards Nominees Announced

The nominees for the 25th Annual Producers Guild of America Awards were announced this week as awards season picks up after the holidays. There are only four categories for film, the big one being The Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures. Most of the films we’ve seen from other organizational honors this year have been nominated while Inside Llewyn Davis and The Butler have been left out in the cold. With awards season underway – the SAG Awards nominees were announced yesterday – this morning Aziz Ansari, Zoe Saldana, and Olivia Wilde took turns announcing the nominees for the 71st Annual Golden Globes Awards. Hosted once again by the dynamic duo of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler on January 12, 2014, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association has its sights set on 12 Years a Slave and American Hustle this year.
