Studio Ghibli 14-Film Retrospective Hits Los Angeles

Studio Ghibli 14 Film Retrospective

If you are a film geek like myself then you have probably partaken in the viewing of at least one Hayao Miyazaki film or any of the wonderful features that Studio Ghibli has to offer. Due to the popular success in New York, children’s entertainment distributor, GKIDS, is proud to bring Los Angeles an 18-year retrospective of 14-classic Studio Ghibli films from 1984-2002. Some of these hits include: Howl’s Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke and the Academy Award winning best animated feature Spirited Away. Did I mention it starts Today! Continue reading

The Last Airbender: The Legend of Korra Trailer

Not only was the movie, The Last Airbender, a horrible adaptation of a great animated series, but it was a complete insult to everything that  Avatar: The Last Airbender had created. With hopes of redemption, I believe that The Last Airbender: The Legend of Korra will make up for M. Night Shamalamadingdong’s failure and save this once great franchise. At this year’s Comic-Con, the folks at Nickelodeon had brought the first trailer for The Legend of Korra and it was more than anyone could have dreamed of. Watch the spectacular trailer after the jump!

TeeHee: Winnie the Pooh Needs Meds Too!

Illustrator and cool guy Dan Meth creates a lot of fun pop-culture pieces that reflect his quirky mind. He has been slowly developing various pop-culture graphs/charts in his spare time and his recent one had caught my eye. What if Winnie the Pooh and Tigger too needed meds, and what about that Christopher Robin fellow, he doesn’t seem all too right in his head. It’s something that’s just funny, which makes the Internets that much more entertaining! Check out more of Dan Meth’s charts and his other work as well too!

Harry Potter Drawn as Anime Characters

Haven’t had enough Harry Potter yet, well I’ve got one more post for you! Now I’d like to give credit where credit is due, but I can’t seem to find any original artist or poster on this illustration. There is a full on epic banner after the jump that your eyes must see! The entire cast is included in this beautiful drawing and it is not one to miss!

Neato: Animation Color Wheel

You meet a lot of strange and colorful individuals through all different kinds of animated features and shows. The genius minds over at Slate.com decided to create an amazing spectrum of color utilizing various different animated characters throughout time in honor of The Smurfs releasing this past weekend. There are so many iconic figures in this wheel that it brings way too much nostalgia that I might strike a tear. Doubtful since I removed my tear ducts in a surgery last fall. Saturday’s Schedule for The San Diego Comic-Con 2011

If you ever wanted to let your geek flag fly high and proud than Saturday is your day! On Satruday, the San Diego Comic-Con will house a full array of anything you could ever ask for in a convention. From discussions on the future of comics to the inspirational words of Joss Whedon, this day is your day. You can learn how to draw in one room and learn about the future of Avatar: The Legend of Korra in another. Panels will discus videogames, anime, manga, steampunk, and so much more. I’m still really really pissed I wasn’t able to get a badge for this thing.

The ever so infamous Hall H will be graced by the presence of FRANCIS FORD COPPOLA as he presents his panel on his new film TWIXT! How ridiculous is that?! Unfortunately the bigger guns like The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, and Superman: Man of Steel are not making a big presence, if any, at the con, but you will be getting previews of Snow White and the Huntsmen, Dorothy of Oz, Knights of Badassdom, and Immortals. Even Kevin Smith will be in Hall H.

So check out the entire line-up for Saturday after the jump and be sure to check out the schedules for Thursday and Friday too!

Fantastic Disney Princess Cosplayers

I highly admire what lengths people go to fully commit to cosplaying (ex. Jessica Nigri). Not only are these people die-hard fans, but they love what they do and give off such a great vibe of energy. These lovely ladies have got the cosplaying art down to a science. Cinderella, Snow White and Belle are the funniest in this picture, but really this picture is just fabulously epic. Look after the jump for an extra special guest with the lovely Disney Princesses!

The Ultimate “Noooooo” Compilation

One of the silliest and perhaps overly used dramatic word in all of film, television, and other mediums has found its way into one of the longest montages ever made. Noooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is not a single “no” left out to be discriminated against. With over 150 instances of the simple word, this montage proves to be quite entertaining. Yes! Check it out after the break!

In Cased You Missed It: Watch Pixar’s Day & Night

Although it may have been defeated at the Oscars, which was an upset in my opinion, Pixar’s Day & Night, directed by Teddy Newsom, was an absolute joy to watch. It’s amazing and uncanny how ingenious these people are. Day & Night just mixes intelligent story making with beautiful animation. You can watch the entire short animated film after the break!
