This morning Thor Chris Hemsworth and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences president, Cheryl Boone Isaacs, were nice enough to wake up at the butt crack of dawn to announce the nominees for the 86th Annual Academy Awards. While there were many that stood out as “duh” nominations, like American Hustle and Gravity earning ten nominations and12 Years a Slave walking away with nine, there were snubs that actually surprised me this year. In an official announcement made by Marvel Studios today, it has been confirmed that Michael Douglas (Wall Street; Basic Instinct; Traffic) will play the role of Hank Pym in Edgar Wright’s new film Ant-Man. First appearing in “Tales to Astonish” #27 in January 1962, Pym was the first to don the Ant-Man suit, as well as one of the founding members of The Avengers. Douglas will star alongside Paul Rudd (I Love You, Man; Role Models) who will play Scott Lang, another character in the Marvel Universe who has appeared as Ant-Man.
