If you happened to be outside the San Diego Convention Center near PETCO Park this weekend you may have noticed a building that looked like it was attacked by a monster. Thanks in part by Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros., the king of monsters, Godzilla himself is coming back on to the big screen in May of 2014. What Legendary and Warner Bros. brought to Comic-Con 2013 this year was an experience far more extravagant then a teaser clip like last year, they brought fans to Japan to see the beast up close and personal. Three influential directors walk into a room… and thus began one of the most under-the-radar panels of Comic-Con 2013. Needless to say, Edgar Wright and Alfonso Cuarón are a pair of the most talented, visually-inspiring directors of our time – Marc Webb is still young in his career, but a visionary nonetheless. In the span of just under an hour, SDCC attendees were treated to a conversation between three directors and what their take is on the future of the film industry. Thursday at Comic-Con 2013 was quite the hectic day. Jam packed full of panels, it’s amazing how this convention is a mere four days long. Trying to see everything is almost suicidal. Gamers excited for Batman: Arkham Origins got a real treat at Comic-Con 2013 this year. Not only were fans treated to appearances by the director of the game, Eric Holmes, as well as Roger Craig Smith and Troy Baker, the newest voices of Batman and the Joker, respectively, but they were also greeted by Geoff Johns, Chief Creative Officer of DC Comics. Those expecting to play the game October 25 were given a sneak peak at new skins available for download as well as one of the villains that has yet to be seen. Writing about film news and reviews is just as fun as you would think, but it’s a lot more work than you would believe. During Comic-Con 2013, influential higher ups of the online movie world got together to discuss their thoughts on the industry, fandom, writing online, and much more. This year was a special year for the Masters of the Web panel because it was all about the horror genre. Special guests included Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett, the creative minds behind You’re Next and the V/H/S franchise, with moderation by John Campea, editor-in-chief of AMC Movie News. And so it begins. Comic-Con 2013 is upon us and it has taken San Diego by storm. Preview Night of SDCC started at 6pm this evening and already there were lines leading out of the convention center. The streets of the Gaslamp Quarter were paved with attendees and tourists alike, taking in the sights before the madness begins tomorrow. Comic-Con 2013 Preview Night Schedule

Comic-Con 2013 begins Wednesday, July 17 at 6 pm with Preview Night. Wednesday is not your typical SDCC zoo, but for those looking to seek information regarding upcoming shows on The CW and Fox, Preview Night will be a good night to hit up. Almost Human, The 100, The Originals, and The Tomorrow People will be making their big world premiere debuts in the convention center, while anime fans can expect fun and excitement at the Marriott next door. After waiting all day in lines, bumping elbows with fellow nerds, and walking around for a better part of the day, Comic-Con does not end when the sun sets. There are many fantastic parties where you may run into various celebrities, partake in food and drink, and obtain a lot of swag. Not only do these parties make the convention more enjoyable, but they make it unforgettable (depending on how much you drink). A number of these parties do require an RSVP or an invite, but there are a good amount that are still open to the public for free or at a minor cost.
