It was a pretty big night for awards season frontrunners at the 20th Annual SAG Awards. Everyone you pretty much expected to walk away with the Actor did. American Hustle took home the big prize for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, while Breaking Bad and Modern Family took it home for their respective televison categories for drama and comedy. Although the night was full of non-surprises, it was however a great night for acceptance speeches, especially from Lupita Nyong’o, Bryan Cranston, and Rita Moreno. 19th Annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards Winners List
The 2014 Critics’ Choice Awards winners were announced this past week, live on the CW hosted by the very dry Aisha Tyler. Despite a few differential views from the Broadcast Film Critics Association, there were many similar winners the Hollywood Foreign Press Association chose at the Golden Globe Awards last weekend. Warner Bros. Delays ‘Batman vs. Superman’ Until 2016
Well ain’t that a peach? Just as the cast of the untitled Man of Steel 2 or Batman vs. Superman or whatever you want to call it was gaining headway – Ben Affleck as Batman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman – Warner bros. has announced this week that the project has been delayed until 2016. Now with July 17, 2015 freed up, WB has positioned Joe Wright’s Pan, a new live action Peter Pan adventure, to take Batman vs. Superman’s place. This morning Thor Chris Hemsworth and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences president, Cheryl Boone Isaacs, were nice enough to wake up at the butt crack of dawn to announce the nominees for the 86th Annual Academy Awards. While there were many that stood out as “duh” nominations, like American Hustle and Gravity earning ten nominations and12 Years a Slave walking away with nine, there were snubs that actually surprised me this year. Michael Douglas Cast as Hank Pym in Marvel’s Ant-Man; Paul Rudd Confirmed as Scott Lang
In an official announcement made by Marvel Studios today, it has been confirmed that Michael Douglas (Wall Street; Basic Instinct; Traffic) will play the role of Hank Pym in Edgar Wright’s new film Ant-Man. First appearing in “Tales to Astonish” #27 in January 1962, Pym was the first to don the Ant-Man suit, as well as one of the founding members of The Avengers. Douglas will star alongside Paul Rudd (I Love You, Man; Role Models) who will play Scott Lang, another character in the Marvel Universe who has appeared as Ant-Man. After hauling more than $700 million worldwide, the Disney darling is looking to bring the magic of Frozen to your living room on March 18. 66th Annual Directors Guild Awards Nominees Announced
The 66th Annual Directors Guild of America Awards nominees were announced yesterday with Gravity, Captain Phillips, 12 Years a Slave, American Hustle, and The Wolf of Wall Street each earning recognition.
