Cosplay, the quintessential element to any successful Comic-Con. For some, cosplaying can be fun. Others it is their job. And to many it is expression of who they are, an art form. It is a treat for attendees no matter how you look at it. I highly enjoyed seeing all of the cosplayers and only wish that I had half the creativity they had. And on the last day, Stan Lee said, “Let thy rest.” After three full days of rubbing elbows with sweaty Hobbits, listening to unproportioned Batman’s growl, and seeing more slave Leia’s than Jabba’s sail barge, Sunday during Comic-Con is a day of re-cooperation. There aren’t any really big names appearing on Sunday other than BBC’s Doctor Who, FX’s Sons of Anarchy, and an overview of the 15-year history of Harry Potter. Today is a big day in film for Comic-Con 2012, bigger than Thursday and even bigger than Friday. Saturday hosts panels for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Iron Man 3, Django Unchained, and Man of Steel. There basically wouldn’t be any other reason to go to Comic-Con than this day. Here we are. The Big Kahuna. It will begin on this day, Thursday, July 12. With Preview Night offering a taste of the con, the real deal is here. Could the Mayans be right? If you ever wanted to let your geek flag fly high and proud than Saturday is your day! On Satruday, the San Diego Comic-Con will house a full array of anything you could ever ask for in a convention. From discussions on the future of comics to the inspirational words of Joss Whedon, this day is your day. You can learn how to draw in one room and learn about the future of Avatar: The Legend of Korra in another. Panels will discus videogames, anime, manga, steampunk, and so much more. I’m still really really pissed I wasn’t able to get a badge for this thing.
The ever so infamous Hall H will be graced by the presence of FRANCIS FORD COPPOLA as he presents his panel on his new film TWIXT! How ridiculous is that?! Unfortunately the bigger guns like The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, and Superman: Man of Steel are not making a big presence, if any, at the con, but you will be getting previews of Snow White and the Huntsmen, Dorothy of Oz, Knights of Badassdom, and Immortals. Even Kevin Smith will be in Hall H.

Thankfully there will be no Rebecca Black this Friday (she’s still cool to make fun of these days right?) Anyways… this Friday schedule is a bit more exciting than Thursday will be. I think one of the biggest panels this day will be for Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-man. It’s been almost 5 years since we’ve last seen the infamous web-slinger and with Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone at the panel it should be a good show. A lot of other smaller films will be in the line-up too, including 30 Minutes or Less, Underworld 4, Fright Night, and Ghost Rider 2. Alex Pardee, illustrator/artist, has been working with writer/director Zack Snyder with some character design posters for Sucker Punch. His bunny design is shown on the mech unit and more of his work will be seen throughout the film as well. Pardee created character posters for Comic-con, which were posted on io9.com. They are pretty vibrant in color and imagery and my assumption that there is some water color environment added to them. You can check them out after the break!
