66th Annual WGA Awards Nominees; 12 Years a Slave Left Out, Breaking Bad Leads the Pack
Award announcements keep rolling out, and with the 66th Annual Writers Guild of America Awards nominees unveiled today the road to Oscar has heated up. 12 Years a Slave has been ahead of the pack on many lists, but the WGA has found other films worthy of their Best Adapted Screenplay award. 2014 Producers Guild Awards Nominees Announced
The nominees for the 25th Annual Producers Guild of America Awards were announced this week as awards season picks up after the holidays. There are only four categories for film, the big one being The Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures. Most of the films we’ve seen from other organizational honors this year have been nominated while Inside Llewyn Davis and The Butler have been left out in the cold. Turn The Right Corner’s Top 10 Worst Movies of 2013
As we look back at 2013, all in all it was a pretty darn good year at the cinemas. While there were a handful of disappointing movies that we can forgive over time, none of them could stoop as low as the wretched filth on the following list. These are the bottom of the barrel; the worst of the worst. If you see any of these movies you will need to hire Lacuna to erase the memory of them from your mind. ‘Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones’ Movie Review: Cheap Scares Overshadow Intriguing Spin-off
A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, and Halloween. Once studios see profitability from a beloved horror movie they will more than likely attempt to cash in on sequels that will undoubtedly lose steam somewhere around the third film. Recently we have seen this with Saw (stopping after its seventh flick in 2010), and here with Paranormal Activity, which got its start in 2009. Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones tries very hard to break this curse. Despite rebuilding some faith after a feeble fourth entry, The Marked Ones holds back the franchise from the crucial revival it needs due to weak scares and little expansion in the mythology. ‘Thor: The Dark World’ Thunders its way on to DVD and Blu-Ray February 25; Digital HD Feb. 4
Thor: The Dark World‘s favorite step brothers, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston), have just been announced to arrive on home video February 25, with a special Digital 3D and HD release on February 4. There were many promising films released this past year that unfortunately fell flat on their faces. This could be blamed on the marketing, sequalitis, the production, or poor direction.
